Companies are finally starting to take female athletes seriously. There are more and more brands for female athletes to choose from than ever before. And, frankly, it’s about time.
Women are a diverse group of people. We all have different wants, needs, sizes, etc. We need options that are as diverse as we are. After all, not every woman wants to wear yoga pants to workout and not every woman wants to wear pink.
Women also don’t want leftovers. We don’t want a smaller version of a man’s products. Case in point, Ida Sports has designed cleats based on a woman’s foot instead of just shrinking a man’s cleat. This could possibly mean less injuries for women because they’ve built a cleat based on how a woman runs. So, hopefully, the days of ‘pink it and shrink it’ are well behind us!
And not only are there more brands for female athletes, but female athletes are stepping up to the plate too. They are creating their own fashion lines. Take for example re—inc, a fashion line created by Women’s World Cup soccer champions Megan Rapinoe, Christen Press, Tobin Heath, and Meghan Klingenberg or PSK Collective that was founded by rugby hall of famer Phaidra Knight. Even better, many of these brands are donating back to their communities.
Remember, female athletes deserve brands for female athletes. So let’s keep this trend going!
